The surface is worked with a palette knife to create subtle ridges and impressions that catch light and shadow in endlessly interesting ways. The glaze is a complex, multi-layered application of iron oxide, cobalt, and clear overglaze, fired multiple times to achieve deep, shifting colors that range from midnight blue to warm amber depending on the viewing angle. The wide interior is sealed with a waterproof coating and can safely hold fresh flowers or water.
